Verdict

Ghost's biggest strengths are its focused publishing experience, fast performance, and native subscription and newsletter tools. It is less flexible than WordPress for complex sites and has fewer free plugins than larger ecosystems. Self-hosting is powerful but requires technical maintenance, while managed Ghost Pro is easier but costs more. It is ideal for writers, journalists, newsletters, and independent publications that prioritize content and recurring revenue.
