What Is Evlat?
Evlat is a Mac menu bar app that monitors your AI coding agent sessions and shows their status in a persistent strip at the top of your screen. If you run multiple Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode sessions simultaneously, Evlat tells you which one is working, which one is waiting for input, and which one just finished — without switching windows.
The name comes from the Turkish word for “child,” and the metaphor fits: you’re the parent supervising multiple children, and Evlat is the baby monitor that tells you which one needs attention right now.
Key Features
Multi-Session Status Strip
The core feature is a persistent status strip in your Mac menu bar that shows every active AI agent session. Each session gets a color-coded indicator: working (the agent is executing), waiting (it needs your input), idle, or errored. At a glance, you see the state of all your agents without cmd-tabbing through terminal windows.
Cross-Agent Support
Evlat supports Claude Code, Codex CLI, and OpenCode out of the box. It reads the session state from each agent’s process output, so you get a unified view regardless of which agent you’re running. If you split work across agents (one on backend, another on frontend), Evlat keeps them all visible.
Click-to-Focus
Click any session in the status strip and Evlat brings that terminal window to the front. When an agent is waiting for your input, you see it in the strip and can jump directly to it.
Notifications
When an agent finishes a task or encounters an error, Evlat can send a macOS notification. Useful when you’re working in another app and want to know when your agent is done.
Who Is This For?
- Developers running multiple AI agents in parallel — the primary use case
- Anyone who uses Claude Code in “fire and forget” mode — start a task, work on something else, get notified when it’s done
- Teams exploring multi-agent workflows — keep track of what each agent is doing
Pros
- Solves a real workflow friction for multi-agent users
- Persistent visibility without window switching
- Supports multiple agent runtimes (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode)
- Click-to-focus is faster than cmd-tab hunting
- Free during beta
- Lightweight — menu bar app, minimal resource usage
Cons
- Mac only — no Windows or Linux support
- Limited to supported agents (no custom agent integration yet)
- Beta stage — feature set may change
- No session history or analytics
- Notification customization is basic
Verdict
Evlat solves a small but real problem. If you run one Claude Code session at a time, you probably don’t need it. But the moment you run two or three agents in parallel — which is increasingly common as people split tasks across agents — the window-switching overhead becomes real. Evlat eliminates it.
The menu bar approach is the right form factor. A status strip stays visible while you work in other apps, which is exactly the behavior you want from a monitoring tool. The click-to-focus interaction is snappy and removes the “which terminal was that agent in?” friction.
The main limitation is scope: it supports three agents today and is Mac-only. As the multi-agent workflow pattern grows, Evlat’s value proposition scales with it.
